Bio
Dexter Goodner is entering his second year as the Hastings College assistant Women’s Basketball coach. Coach Goodner is joining the Women’s staff after a 14 year high school girls’ basketball coaching career.
The Litchfield, Nebraska native started his coaching career while attending the University of Nebraska Kearney, where he returned to his alma mater to be an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball program. During his three years at Litchfield (2009-2011) he was able to help turn around a program from winning just 4 games in 6 years to a district finalist in his last season as a Trojan.
After graduating from UNK with a degree in K-12 Health and Physical Education, Dexter and his wife, Ericka, accepted jobs at Stuart Public School. Once again Dexter was able to help a struggling program that had managed to only win 4 games in 4 straight seasons, into a state tournament team in just two years after his arrival. During his 4 year stretch as the Stuart Broncos head coach, he amassed a record of 68-34, which included two state tournament appearances and a third place finish.
Goodner then moved to Ord to take over the Chanticleer girls’ basketball program. In his 7 years as the Chant coach, his overall record was 118-49, highlighted by making the state tournament his first year with the Chants followed by a historic 24-1 season. During his time at Ord he was able to coach 3 college basketball players, one being Hastings Bronco alum Ali Smith. Goodner’s teams and players would go on to set 29 school records
Dexter and his wife Ericka reside in Ord with their daughter, Grey, and son, Hayze.
