(Hastings, NE) – Mariyah Avila and Koen Mattern have been named Bronco Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of February brought to you by Hastings Physical Therapy.
Mariyah Avila - Women's Basketball - She averaged 15.4 points per game in 8 games, shooting 45% from the field and 45% from behind the arc. She also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.9 steals to win the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week twice in February.
Koen Mattern - Men's Wrestling - He compiled a 6-1 record during the month with three pins. He went 4-0 at the GPAC Championships to win the title at 285 and earned a spot as a National Qualifier at the NAIA Championships.
The Broncos that received Hastings PT Athlete of the Week awards during February were Tabitha Wood (Women's Wrestling), Mattern, Brook Schilke (Women's Wrestling), Avila, Evan Struss (Men's Track and Field), Parker Graves (Men's Track and Field), Deshawn Burks (Men's Track and Field), Tyler Salter (Men's Track and Field).
