On Saturday, February 8 Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, will host the first ever Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cheer and Dance Invitational. Not only will this be a first for the conference, but it is the first of its kind ever held in the state of Nebraska.
GPAC schools in attendance will include: Briar Cliff University, Concordia University, Doane College, Hastings College, Morningside College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Northwestern College and host Midland University. There will be eight dance teams participating, four stunt cheer teams and two non-stunt cheer teams performing. Championship trophies will be awarded in all three divisions.
"I am very excited to have our inaugural GPAC Cheer and Dance Invitational this Saturday at Midland," said GPAC Commissioner Corey Westra. "The cheer and dance coaches in the conference have worked very hard to make this first event happen, it's going to be a high energy event for our student-athletes!" "I especially want to thank our event coordinator Trish Ryan at Midland and the MU staff for their tireless work to get this first event up and running," added Westra.
Admission to the GPAC Invitational is $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. A special rate of $15.00 for high school cheer and dance teams will apply.
