Summers Wins GPAC Title; Men Place 7th
Crete, NE - The Hastings College women's track and field team took part in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships this past Friday and Saturday where the team placed seventh with 43 points. All individuals that finished in the top eight also earned All-GPAC honors
Tyler Summers (SR/Hastings, NE) brought home the conference title in the hammer throw with a throw of 60.42m which is an "A" standard national qualifying mark.
Justin Villars (SR/Minden, NE) finished 2nd in the men's discus with an "A" standard throw of 50.47m
Juba McClay Jr. (SR/Mesa, AZ) went on to finish second in the men's triple jump with an "A" standard national qualifying mark of 14.72m.
Cole Schmidt (SR/Hartington, NE) went on to finish fourth in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.89m
Brian Clausen (JR/Papillion, NE) finished fourth in the men's 400m hurdles in a time of 54.05
Brady Creech (FR/Hastings, NE) finished sixth in the men's high jump with a heighth of 2.00m.
Zach Hole (SR/Wichita, KS) went on to finish seventh in the men's 10,000m run in a time of 33:31.
The men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Connor Hartzler (FR/Sydney, NE), Jayden Gonzales (SO/Ogallala, NE) and Aaron Ochsner (SO/Hastings, NE) placed seventh in a time of 3:27.22.
The Broncos will now have two more chances to pick up national qualifying marks on May 13 at the Concordia Twilight and May 14 at the Loper Twilight before nationals.
