Brackhan, Poulson, and Chaparro-Belloc Each Win Event at Bronco Invite
(Hastings, NE) – The Hastings College women’s track team hosted the Bronco Invite on Saturday at the newly renovated Jack Osborne Track Complex.

In the high jump, senior Zailee Poulson placed first with a jump of 1.56m. Junior Melissa Hines also placed 6th in that event with 1.46m. In the long jump, freshman Kamerin Turner took fourth with a leap of 5.15m.
In the 5000m race walk, junior Ava Brackhan secured first with a time of 31:26.35. Second in that event was freshman Destini Johnson with 33:41.04.
Placing in the 1500m was senior Cynthia Chaparro-Belloc, who took first with a time of 5:25.09. Sophomore Whitney Cure placed fifth with 5:41.26. In the 400m run, senior Cecilia Velarde placed sixth with a time of 1:05.46.
In the 400m hurdles, junior Jaida Rowe took second with a time of 1:04.96. In the 100m, Rowe also took third with a time of 12.42. Freshman Ava Reese placed seventh (12.71) and Turner finished eighth (13.09). Reese also took sixth in the 400m hurdles (1:19.93).
In the 4x100m relay Turner, Reese, Velarde, and freshman Lucy Carey took a second place finish with a time of 51.62. In the 800m run, senior Shania Santos took third place with a time of 2:35.23. Sophomore Grace Dow placed fifth with 2:37.08. Sophomore Danielle Hoer took eighth (2:40.69).
Carey also placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.85, while Reese also took fifth place in the hurdles with 16.13. Junior Kathryn Columbus took 12th place with a run of 17.64.
In the javelin throw, freshman Ellie Lloyd placed fifth with a throw of 34.45m. Also placing in the event was Carey, who took 12th (28.21m), Turner (26.62m), and Poulson (23.21m). Lloyd also placed 14th in the discus throw with a 30.02. In the hammer throw, junior Kylee Hasselmann placed fifth with a throw of 45.02m.
In the 200m, Carey took sixth with (27.03), Turner placed seventh (27.48), and Columbus finished 12th (30.61).
Next the Lady Broncos head to Crete, NE to compete at the first day of the John Green Combined Events. The meet takes place April 16th at 2:00pm.
