Broncos Roll Past Mount Marty

Reggie Thomas was a man on a mission to start the game as he got the game going with a driving layup. After the Lancers tied it up, Thomas broke free again with a tough layup to make it 4-2. Thomas then drilled a mid-rage jumper from the wing to make it 6-2 as Hastings began to roll. Thomas then drove to the lane and found Danilo Matovic wide open at the low block for the easy layup and the 8-4 lead.
Grady Corrigan the swung the ball out to Tyrique McMurrin as his three hit all nylon and then Nolan Sughroue buried a three from the wing as Mount Marty was forced to call a timeout trailing 14-4.
After the Lancers got a three, Motovic answered with a tip in and then McMurrin broke free for a layup to make it 18-7. The lead grew to 13 as Corrigan knocked down a jumper from the charity stripe as the Broncos were trying to make sure they avoided the upset unlike Northwestern was able to do on Saturday.
The teams then traded points until Thomas got to the rack for a crazy reverse layup. On the ensuing possession for the Broncos, Thomas got to the rack again getting the layup to go plus the harm. He went on to make the free throw as Hastings now led 25-11. Thomas then drained a jumper as HC now led 27-11 with 10:11 to go as MMU had no answer for the sophomore from Omaha.
Thomas racked up 23 first half points as the Broncos led the Lancers 47-19. The Broncos shot a blistering 59.4 percent (19-for-32) from the floor in the first half while Mount Marty shot just 29.6 percent (8-for-27).
Thomas led the way with 25 points as he was 10-for-15 from the floor with five rebounds and four assists. Sughroue had a career high 14 points as he was 5-for-7 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown. McMurrin had a double-double finishing with 14 points as he was 6-of-9 from the floor while pulling down 10 rebounds
Hastings finished the game shooting nearly 51 percent (31-of-61) from the floor while the Lancers shot 42.9 percent (21-for-49). The Broncos won the rebounding battle 36-to-22 and also dominated the paint 38-to-20.
Hastings improves to 12-4 (7-1) on the year and will be back in action Saturday Jan. 13 hitting the road to take on Briar Cliff with tipoff set for 3:45 pm in Sioux City, IA.
