Morningside got off to a hot start, making three of their first four shots to go up 9-0 four minutes into the game. Junior DaRon Hall got the Broncos on the board with a layup, but Morningside later went up 19-7 with 10:56 left in the first half.
Hall led the Broncos on an 8-0 run that also included a basket from junior John Barnhill and sophomore Ben Boudreau to make it 19-15. The Mustangs went on a 7-0 run from there over the next two minutes to go up, 26-15. Junior Myles Simon briefly cut the lead back to eight with a three-point play at the 3:37 mark, but Morningside went on a 9-4 run to close the half.
