Albert's Big Second Half Propels Broncos to Semifinals

(Fremont, NE) – In the quarterfinal matchup between the Hastings Broncos and the Midland Warriors, the Broncos beat the Warriors 2-0 on Tuesday night.
The first half was scoreless as neither team was able to capitalize on any opportunities. Hastings had five shots on goal, compared to Midland's two in the opening period, though the Warriors registered the lone shot on goal. Sophomore Juan Rubio led the team with three of the shot attempts.
In the second half, senior Lewis Albert took over. He scored a goal in the 60th minute off of a pass from senior Joe Vokins, then he scored again in the 68th minute on an unassisted goal to get a commanding 2-0 lead, which held for the final 22 minutes.
For the game Midland took more shots, 11-10, and shots on goal 5-4, but it was the Broncos that came out on top. Albert, Rubio, and freshman Tim Berger each took three shots, while senior Pablo Arce-Salinas saved all five opportunities.
Up next, #5-seed Hastings will travel to Sioux City, IA to play #1-seed Morningside in a semifinal matchup at 2pm on Saturday, Nov. 9.
