Men's Track and Field Takes Sixth at GPAC
(Hastings, NE) - The men’s track and field team hosted the GPAC Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Jack Osborne Track Complex. Hastings finished sixth out of 11 teams with 53 points, 14 points behind fifth place Northwestern.

Hastings finished sixth out of 11 teams with 53 points, 14 points behind fifth place Northwestern. The top eight in individual events and top three in relay events were awarded all-conference honors.
In the 800m, junior Tyler Salter got first place with a time of 1:52.57, just shy of the national qualifying time. Also placing in that event was junior Deshawn Burks, who took seventh (1:55.93) and freshman Evan Struss, who placed eighth (1:56.27).
In the 4x800m run, Struss, freshman Parker Graves, Burks, and Salter placed first with a time of 7:40.77, qualifying them for the NAIA Championship.
In the 5000m race walk, junior Sam Wise took third with a B-Standard time of 25:55.17. In the 3000m steeplechase, senior Tatum Jelleberg took first with 9:38.40. He also placed sixth in the 10000m with a time of 32:14.17. Jelleberg later concluded his running by finishing 10th in the 5000m run (16:01.56).
In the decathlon, sophomore Rafer Severson took first place first overall with 6282 points. He placed first in the long jump (6.81m), high jump (1.88m), 400m (51.19), and pole vault (4.10m).
Sophomore Zane Eggleston earned a sixth place finish in the 400m hurdles (55.37) and freshman Spencer Hille was right behind him in seventh (55.47). In the 1500m run, Graves placed 17th with a time of 4:11.12. In the long jump, freshman Rayne Chavez-Major took 18th with a leap of 6.28m.
In the 4x400m relay, Chavez-Major, Burks, Severson, and Salter finished seventh with a time of 3:23.17. In the 4x100m relay, sophomore Noah Hudnall, Friend, freshman Adrian Lobeda, and Chavez-Major took tenth with a time of 43.21.
Freshman Jorge Vazquez was ninth in the discus (44.59), senior Evan Morara took 18th (40.95m), and sophomore Titus Glanz placed 23rd (37.20).
In the javelin throw, junior Edward Pallotto took 10th with a throw of 46.10. Also placing in the event was freshman Tanner-James Friend, who placed 13th (42.68m) and Morara, who placed 15th (41.80m). In the shot put, freshman Trey Parriott took 23rd with a throw of 12.96m.
Next, the Broncos will go to the Concordia Twilight Last Chance in Seward, NE on May 9th at 2pm, then are also scheduled to compete on Saturday, May 10 at the Loper Last Chance meet in Kearney, NE.
