Men's Cross Country Picked to Finish 7th in the GPAC
(Hastings, NE) – The men’s cross country team was picked to finish seventh in the preseason GPAC poll with 43 points, 16 points behind sixth-place Midland. Dordt was the preseason pick to win the conference with 97 points and seven first place votes, while Doane was second and received the other four place votes.

While the Broncos graduated their top runner last year in Tatum Jelleberg, they return four of their top six runners from last year. The returners include seniors Deshawn Burks, Tyler Salter, and Sam Wise, as well as sophomore Evan Struss.
Burks had the top finish at the GPAC Championships last year among the returning runners at 35th with a time of 28:05.90. Burks, along with Salter, Struss, and sophomore Parker Graves - who also returns for his sophomore year - set a school record in the indoor 4x800m relay at Nationals and took 16th in the event, then qualified for Nationals in the outdoor 4x800m relay. Wise also had a great year as a junior, qualifying for Nationals in the 3000m indoor and 5000m outdoor racewalk competitions.
Hastings will open the season at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson, KS on Friday, Aug. 29, beginning at 9:05pm.
