Shotgun Sports Takes 4th at FHSU Shoot
(Hays, KS) – The Hastings College Shotgun Sports team traveled back to Fort Hays State University this weekend to compete at the FHSU Shoot. Hastings finished fourth out of 12 teams, behind only Fort Hays State, Iowa Western Community College, and Midland.
(Hays, KS) – The Hastings College Shotgun Sports team traveled back to Fort Hays State University this weekend to compete at the FHSU Shoot. Hastings finished fourth out of 12 teams, behind only Fort Hays State, Iowa Western Community College, and Midland.
As a team, the Broncos were third in sporting, fifth in super sporting, and sixth in the double skeet, trap, and double trap competitions.
Senior Hunter Gilbertson had the best individual performance for Hastings with 411 targets, placing ninth overall. He was first in sporting, hitting 96 targets, and was 17th in skeet doubles.
Senior Austin Hofts was close behind at 12th overall with 409 targets. He hit 98 targets in trap to place 12th, then he hit 92 targets in sporting to take third. Junior Chase Wieczorek tied for 17th with 408 targets. He was 14th in sporting with 89 targets and 17th in skeet doubles with 90 targets.
Senior Hayden Thomason was 55th with 387 targets and freshman Abbie Blackwell, who was 11th in the women's scores, was 86th with 372 targets. Juniors Katrice Lyons and Hannah Sears, who were 17th and 18th in the women's scores, were 112th and 114th overall with 362 targets and 361 targets, respectively.
Sophomore Jace Bax was 120th with 359 targets, freshman Sean McCarty was 130th with 354 targets, and junior Jake Royal finished 143rd with 346 targets.
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Midland Warrior Invitational on Sept. 19-21 in Lincoln, NE.
