Women's Wrestling Competes Eagle Madness

In the duels on Friday, Hastings beat Brewton Parker College 24-18, as junior Larissa Kaz (131), sophomore Reagen Gallaway (138), freshman Emma Stice (145), freshman Brooke Schilke (160), and freshman Chloe Harris (180) each won their matches.
Hastings lost 46-1 to Iowa University, with Kaz (131) getting the only point for the Broncos in her 15-2 tech fall loss. In their final duel on Friday against Lindsey Wilson College, they lost 37-11, as both Kaz (131) and Gallaway (138) won their matches.
In the open matches on Saturday, Kaz (131) lost her first round match, but managed to win four consolation matches, including three pins. Gallaway (138) won her first two matches before losing a close 6-5 decision in the quarterfinals. She also won a match in the consolation quarterfinals before losing on a 12-7 decision in the consolation semifinals.
Senior Tabitha Wood (145) advanced to the semifinals with three pins. Stice and junior Lisa Hoeflich also competed at 145 and went 1-1 in the winner's bracket, then both won three consolation matches to compete against one another in the consolation quarterfinals. Stice won the match, then defeated Wood in the next round, before winning the consolation bracket on a 7-0 decision to take third place.
Freshmen Izzy Deeds and Aubrey Sharbono also competed at 145. Deeds won her first two matches, then lost two matches. Sharbono won her first match, then went 1-2 in her next three. Freshman Mandy Perez (160) lost her first match, but won two consolation matches.
Harris (180) won her opening match, then after losing in her second match, she won two consolation matches, including a 21-20 decision in the consolation quarterfinals. Junior Taylor Rickley (207) lost her first match, but managed three pins on the consolation bracket before falling in the consolation semifinals.
The Broncos will compete next at the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, MO on November 22-23.
