#23 Broncos Defeat Coyotes Behind Schubert's 2 Goals
(Salina, KS) - Making their second trip down to Kansas already this year, #23 Hastings notched its second win over a KCAC team this non-conference, winning 3-0. The Broncos have only given up one goal all year and have three consecutive shutouts.

Freshman Madison Rhodes got the scoring going early in the 17th minute as senior Julia Vilanova set her up for the goal. Vilanova placed it in just the right spot to hit Rhodes in stride for a header goal to put the Broncos up 1-0.
Senior Dekota Schubert added another Broncos' goal in the 36th minute of the first half with Rhodes picking up the assist. Hastings outshot the Coyotes 6-5 in the first half and took a 2-0 lead going into the break.
Kansas Wesleyan came out aggressive in the second half to try to cut into the lead. The Coyotes took three shots in the first five minutes, but senior Jackson Pedersen saved two of them and the other one hit the crossbar. Hastings pushed their lead up to 3-0 shortly after in the 52nd minute as senior Dulce Lopez connected with Schubert for her second goal of the match.
The Broncos would maintain the 3-0 lead the rest of the way to seal the win over the Coyotes. They outshot Kansas Wesleyan 15-14 and Pedersen had a game-high seven saves for the game. Schubert led the way with four shot attempts, while Lopez and Rhodes each had three attempts.
Hastings will host University of Science and Arts, who received votes in the latest NAIA ranking, at 5:30 pm on Saturday, September 7th at Lloyd Wilson Field.
