Broncos Down Mustangs, Move on to GPAC Final

(Hastings, NE) - Looking for an opportunity to play for the GPAC Tournament title, the #1-seed Hastings Broncos defeated the #4-seed Morningside Mustangs 2-0 on Thursday.
Hastings got on the board in the 31st minute on a strike from freshman Madison Rhodes that was assisted by junior Jesse Chartier to go up 1-0 in the first half. Hastings controlled the first half, as they took seven shots earlier in the half, including five on goal.
In the opening half, the Broncos outshot the Mustangs 9-4 overall and 6-3 on shots on goal. Senior Dekota Schubert led the way in shots with three attempts, as they held the 1-0 halftime lead.
Schubert was able to find the back of the net in the 75th minute from junior Megan Lampe for Hastings' add-on goal in the second half, giving them a 2-0 lead. The Broncos held Morningside without a shot in the second half as they punched their ticket to a spot in the GPAC Championship match on Tuesday.
Hastings finished the game with 20 shots attempted, eight of which were by Schubert. Senior Allison Seery took four shots and senior Grace Henry attempted three shots. Freshman Tatiana Villasenor added another shutout to her season total by recording three saves.
Up next, #1-seed Hastings will host #2-seed Concordia at 7pm on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
