Women's Tennis Loses Match to Flames

(Hastings, NE) – In a matchup against College of Saint Mary, the Broncos fell 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
College of Saint Mary won 6-1 at #1 and #3 doubles to clinch the doubles point. Sophomores Cara Ansbach and Lexi Benson led 3-2 at #2 doubles, then after losing back-to-back games on deuce points, they won the final three games to win, 6-4.
The Broncos forfeited the #6 singles match prior to the start of singles, giving the Flames a 2-0 lead. Junior Josline Carter lost 6-1 in the first set at #1 singles, but managed to tie the second set at five before losing the final two games, making it 7-5. College of Saint Mary clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #3 singles, going up 4-0.
At #2 singles, junior Victoria Harris lost the first set 6-2, then flipped the momentum quickly, winning 6-1 in the second set. Down 5-1 in the third set super-tiebreak, Harris won eight straight points, eventually winning 10-7. Benson opened with a 7-5 set one win at #4 singles. She lost the second set 6-0 and the Flames won 10-7 in the third set super-tiebreak. College of Saint Mary wrapped up the 6-1 win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #5 singles.
