Women's Tennis Season Ends with Quarterfinal Loss to Doane
(Omaha, NE) – The women’s tennis team concluded their season on Thursday morning in the GPAC Quarterfinals, losing 4-0 to Doane.
(Omaha, NE) – The women's tennis team concluded their season on Thursday morning in the GPAC Quarterfinals, losing 4-0 to Doane.
Doane took a 1-0 lead after doubles, winning 6-2 and 6-1 at #1 and #2 doubles. Senior Paige Willcoxon and sophomore Kayleigh Cetak trailed 5-4 at #3 doubles at the time of the doubles point clinch.
The Tigers won 6-1, 6-0 at #1 singles and 6-2, 6-1 at #6 singles to go up 3-0. The match was clinched when Doane took the #3 singles match, 6-0, 6-2.
Willcoxon held a one-set lead at #3 singles, winning 6-4, then trailed 5-1 in the second when the match was stopped. Sophomore Lexi Benson wrapped up the first set, winning 7-5, at #5 singles at the time of clinch. Doane also held a 6-2, 3-2 lead at #2 singles in the other incomplete match.
The loss ends the season for the Broncos, as they will start making preparations for next season.
