Men's Wrestling Results From GPAC Duals
(Sioux City, IA) – The men’s wrestling team traveled to Sioux City, IA to compete in the first GPAC Duals of the season. Hastings lost 41-16 to Northwestern in the first dual, then fell 30-19 to Briar Cliff in their second dual.
(Sioux City, IA) – The men's wrestling team traveled to Sioux City, IA to compete in the first GPAC Duals of the season. Hastings lost 41-16 to Northwestern in the first dual, then fell 30-19 to Briar Cliff in their second dual.
Hastings got on the board first against the Red Raiders with a 17-1 tech fall win at 125 by freshman Aidan Rodriguez. Northwestern won at 133 and 141, including a pin at 133, then picked up a forfeit win at 149 to take a 17-5 lead.
The Red Raiders pinned the Broncos as 157 and 165 before sophomore Esteban Sedano won at 174 on a 20-2 tech fall, making it 29-10. Northwestern picked up pins at 184 and 197, then sophomore Koen Mattern earned a pin at the 1:22 mark to make it a 41-16 final for the Red Raiders.
Against Briar Cliff, Rodriguez began with a forfeit win at 125. The Chargers then got a couple of wins by fall in the 133 and 141 bouts, then got a 18-5 major decision at 149 to take a 16-6 lead over Hastings.
At 157, sophomore Jordan Tobias pulled out a 11-6 decision win. Briar Cliff won by decision at 165 and by major decision at 174 to take a 24-9 lead. The Chargers got a pin at 184, then Hastings ended with a 12-2 major decision win by senior Matheson Rodriguez at 197 and a forfeit win at 285 by Mattern to make it a 30-19 final.
Up next, Hastings will wrestle at the Doane Open on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 9am.
