Women's Track and Field Brings Home Six Gold Medals From GPAC Championship
Sioux Center, IA – The Hastings College women’s track and field team showed up and showed out for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship meet this past Friday and Saturday. Hastings brought home six gold medals en route to finishing fourth overall with 116 team points. All top eight finishes at the GPAC meet are considered All-Conference.

Kiara Anderson started things off as the champion in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.91m. Jessa Eden finished fourth with a mark of 51.82m while Cassandra Pine placed seventh with a mark of 47.64m.
Eden is your champion in the discus with a toss of 48.77m while Anderson finished second with a toss of 47.62m. Anderson later placed third in the shot put with a mark of 13.48m. while Asia Tyler finished seventh with a mark of 13.07m
Nisa Thomas came out and not only bested her own school record in the 100m hurdles, she also broke the GPAC record with a winning time of 13.98. She is the first female in school history to break the 14 second mark.
Trinity Doublin brought home the gold in the triple jump with a leap of 11.17m.
Tristyn DiPentino is the champion in the 5000m race walk finishing in a time of 30:26 while Baylee Evarts finished third in a time of 32:00.
Jaida Rowe is your champion in the 400m hurdles finishing in a time of 1:02. Rowe went on to finish fifth in the 100m dash in a time of 12.54.
Madison Gerken went on to finish second in the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 12:07 with Landry Hinkson finishing sixth in a time of 12:22.
Veronica Pinkerton finished second in the 800m run in a time of 2:13
The women's 4x800m relay team consisting of Jilee Golus, Pinkerton, Cecilia Velarde and Gerken placed third in a time of 9:38.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of Rhys Maxey, Gerken, Diana Kollars and Pinkerton finished sixth in a time of 4:08.e
Shania Santos finished sixth in the 10,000m run in a time of 43:01 while Elizabeth Baade placed eighth in a time of 44:21 as both also earned All-Conference honors.
Rhys Maxey finished sixth in the 200m dash in a time of 25.69.
Zailee Poulson brought home sixth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m.
Ikeah Cuff earned All-Conference honors by finishing eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.07m.
Hastings will have a couple of last chance meets before nationals to see if a few more athletes can hit a qualifying time or mark with one meet coming up May 12 at Concordia and another coming up May 13 at Nebraska-Kearney.
