Anderson Earns National Runner-Up in the Weight Throw; Eden 6th in Discus
Marion, IN – The Hastings College track and field teams competed at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past week bringing home three All-American honors. The women finished 27th while the men finished in a tie for 48th.
Marion, IN – The Hastings College track and field teams competed at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past week bringing home three All-American honors. The women finished 27th while the men finished in a tie for 48th.
Kiara Anderson would be the first All-American as she finished as the runner-up in the women's weight throw with a mark of 54.18m. Anderson was leading the way until Life's Jennifer Batu launched one 58.66m on her final throw to win gold. Jessa Eden went on to finish 22nd with a throw of 48.73m while Cassandra Pine finished 24th with a toss of 47.52m. Asia Tyler finished 17th in the women's shot put with a toss of 13.24m with Anderson placing 18th in the with a mark of 13.12m.
Brady Creech came away with All-American honors by finishing fourth in the men's high jump with a leap of 2.08m.
Your third All-American was Eden as she placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 45.05m while Anderson finished 13th with a mark of 42.45m.
Veronica Pinkerton went on to place 15th in the women's 800m run in a time of 2:16.
Nisa Thomas finished 15th in the women's 100m hurdles in a time of 14.18 while Jaida Rowe placed 25th in a time of 14.67.
Brian Clausen went on to finish 22nd in the men's 400m hurdles.
This wraps up the 2023 outdoor track and field season.
