Huntington hit a triple to lead off the bottom of the second inning that scored three batters later on an RBI-single to left. They loaded the bases with two outs, but senior pitcher Kiera Brack got out of the inning without further damage with a groundout.
The Broncos got their first hit of the game in the third inning on a two-out single by sophomore Graecy Graf. Unable to get her into scoring position in that inning, junior Kaylee Pinneo hit a one-out double in the fourth, but a strikeout and flyout occurred in the next two at-bats, keeping the game at 1-0.
The Foresters added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a sac fly with a runner that reached on an error to begin the inning, making it 2-0.
In the seventh inning with Hastings needing to mount a comeback, Pinneo was hit by a pitch and two batters later, senior Ana Medeiros walked to put runners on first and second with one out. Huntington got out with the 2-0 win by getting a pop out and a ground out to end the game.
Brack pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits, striking out one.
Up next, Hastings will play tomorrow in Melbourne versus Spring Arbor and Hannibal-LaGrange at 9 and 11:15am.
