Tigers Outlast Broncos 65-53

The Tigers started out red-hot, jumping out to a 10-0 and forcing a Hastings timeout. Dakota Wesleyan got a stop and hit a three to go up 13-0, but junior Macy Bryant got Hastings on the board with a three. Trailing 17-5 five minutes in, Hastings started to chip away at the lead. Freshman McKenna Yates and sophomore Tathis Arredondo drilled triples on back-to-back possessions, then after a Tiger three, Bryant and Arredondo scored inside to cut the lead to five with three minutes left in the opening quarter.
Following a Tiger turnover, freshman Ann Bose entered the game and drained a three. Sophomore Bailey Kissinger picked the pocket of the Tigers and senior Kiernan Paulk scored on the other end to tie it up at 20. Freshman Adyson Mlnarik put the Broncos ahead 23-21 on a three-pointer, though the Tigers would get a couple of baskets at the end of the quarter to lead 25-23 going into the second period.
Mlnarik dropped in another three on the opening play of the second quarter. From there, Dakota Wesleyan scored eight of the next 10 points to lead 33-28 halfway through the quarter. Yates hit a three before both teams went cold, going scoreless for nearly three minutes. With Hastings trailing 35-33 with one minute left, junior Mariyah AvIila forced a steal and drilled a three to give Hastings a 36-35 halftime lead.
Dakota Wesleyan opened the second half on a 7-1 run, forcing a Bronco timeout. Bryant responded with an and-one to get within two. Kissinger later got the Broncos within one at the free throw line and Paulk put the Broncos ahead with a pair at the stripe with 3:41 on the clock. The Tigers closed the quarter strong, outscoring the Broncos 10-3 the rest of the way to go up 53-47.
Sophomore Rachel Goodon made a layup early in the fourth quarter, but Hastings would have a scoring drought for over four minutes, as the Tigers went up 59-49. Kissinger broke the run with a layup plus the foul with 4:25 left, but couldn't convert the ensuing free throw. Following a Tiger score, Kissinger scored inside again to cut the lead to 61-53 with 1:43 left. Dakota Wesleyan made their three throws down the stretch to get the 65-53 win, as they held Hastings to 17 second half points.
Bryant and Mlnarik led the Broncos with eight points, while Bryant also added three rebounds and three steals. Goodon had seven points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Paulk came off the bench and contributed seven points and four rebounds. Kissinger had six points and five rebounds, while Yates had six points and three assists.
