Day 1 Recap: Men's Golf in 2nd Place at NAIA Championships
(Silvis, IL) – On day one of Hastings’ first trip to the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships, the Broncos had a great performance, currently with the second-best score of +8 after the first 18 holes. Hastings trails USAO by seven strokes for the top spot, but holds a two-stroke lead ahead of third-place Oklahoma City and Lindsey Wilson.
(Silvis, IL) – On day one of Hastings' first trip to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships, the Broncos had a great performance, currently with the second-best score of +8 after the first 18 holes. Hastings trails USAO by seven strokes for the top spot, but holds a two-stroke lead ahead of third-place Oklahoma City and Lindsey Wilson.
Sophomore Taiki Sugawara led the way for the Broncos in the opening round, shooting one under, tying for the fifth best score among all individuals. Senior Ryker Dunkley and sophomore Blake Eddy posted identical numbers, going +1 on the front nine and +2 on the back nine to finish the day at +3 and 36th overall.
Senior Max Nielsen had the best finish to the first round of any Bronco, going two under on the back nine, putting him at +3 on the day, also tied for 36th. Senior Henry Kosmicki ended the day at +5, tied for 65th.
The Broncos will tee off at 8:40am tomorrow morning. They will need to place in the top 15 of the 29 teams after tomorrow's rounds to make the cut for Thursday and Friday. In addition to the top 15 teams making the cut, the top six individuals not on teams making the cut will also compete on Thursday and Friday.
