Women's Wrestling Begins Season at Simpson Luther Hill Invite

In the varsity bracket, junior Reagen Gallaway reached the championship match at 138, going 3-1 on the day. She had a couple of byes to start off, then pinned Waldorf 49 seconds into her first match. A 20-7 tech fall over Grand View was followed by a 5-0 decision victory against William Penn, before falling to Lindenwood in the final.
Senior Taylor Rickley pinned her first two opponents very quickly at 207, the first being against Simpson at the 1:04 mark and the second being 56 seconds into her match versus Loras. She lost an 8-2 decision in the semifinals, but took third with a pin over Waldorf.
Sophomore Emma Stice won two 10-0 tech falls at 145, the first against William Penn and the second against William Jewell. She lost an 8-1 decision in the semifinals, then picked up a pin one minute into her consolation semifinal match versus Grand View, before losing the consolation final.
At 131, senior Larissa Kaz started off with a 11-10 decision win over William Penn. She lost a 10-0 tech fall to Iowa in the quarterfinals, then regrouped by winning her first two consolation matches, one by decision and the other by fall to advance to the fifth place match, where she lost by forfeit.
Freshman Alexis Llamas was pinned in her first match at 207, but picked up a pair of consolation wins by fall, the first being at 3:36 over Quincy and the second being at 6:00 against Lindenwood. She lost her next two matches, one by decision, and the other by fall in the seventh place match.
At 180, sophomore Mandy Perez pinned Indian Hills at the 5:45 mark, then after losing by fall in her next match, she pinned her first consolation opponent just over a minute in. She advanced to her third consolation match with a win by injury after holding a 10-9 lead, before losing her next match by fall.
At 117, freshman Jessica Farmer needed only 17 seconds to take down and pin Southeastern Community College. She lost her next two matches on a tech fall and decision. Also at 117, Sarah Spataro won her first match with a 12-1 tech fall against Southeastern Community College, then lost her next two matches. At 180, freshman Hayden Marks started off with a tech fall loss, but managed to get a pin in her first consolation match before losing her third match.
In the freshman/sophomore bracket, sophomore Ruby Guerrero lost a close 7-6 decision in her opening match at 131, but managed to work her way to the consolation final. She won her first three consolation matches by tech fall, then won an 8-7 decision over Southeast Community College, before falling in the fifth place match.
At 160, freshman Jayla Ford lost her first match by fall, before winning her first two consolations by 10-0 tech falls. She followed that up with a decision win over Quincy, then was pinned late in the fifth place match.
Sophomore Izzy Deeds lost her first match at 138, then picked up a 11-5 decision win over Iowa Central Community College and a pin 36 seconds into facing McMurry, before falling in her third consolation match.
Freshman Raelynn O'Connor lost her opener on a 12-8 decision, but was able to get a win by fall over Buena Vista in the consolation bracket. She lost her next match by tech fall to Southeast Community College.
Freshman Isabella Keesee wrestled at 138, winning her first match with a 12-0 tech fall over Central College before losing her next two matches. Freshman Carlie Nelson was pinned in her first match against Buena Vista, then won a 10-5 decision over Iowa Central Community College, before losing her third match by fall.
Up next, the Broncos will travel to Colby, KS to compete at the Dust Bowl Open on Saturday, Nov. 15.
