Kaz and Gallaway Become 3x NAIA All-Americans; Brewis Gets 1st All-American Award
(Wichita, KS) – The Broncos had nine wrestlers qualify for the two-day NAIA National Championships on Friday and Saturday, senior Larissa Kaz and junior Reagen Gallaway became three-time NAIA Americans, while freshman Chloe Brewis got her first NAIA All-American award.
(Wichita, KS) – The Broncos had nine wrestlers qualify for the two-day NAIA National Championships on Friday and Saturday, senior Larissa Kaz and junior Reagen Gallaway became three-time NAIA Americans, while freshman Chloe Brewis got her first NAIA All-American award.
Brewis, seeded #18, began with an 8-5 decision win in the first round at 110 over #15-seed Gracie Elliott of Texas Wesleyan. She lost her round of 16 bout to #2-seed Avery Ashley from Oklahoma City, then won her first consolation match in a 13-0 tech fall over #32-seed De'yton Young from Missouri Baptist. Against #10-seed Myriam Riley from Dickinson State, Brewis won by a 10-0 tech fall, then she pinned #12 Jenna Gerhardt of Dickinson State at the 4:53 mark. Brewis lost an 18-10 decision to #3 Paige Morales of Providence, then took eighth with a loss by fall to #6 Avy Perez from William Penn.
At 131 and seeded fifth, Kaz had a first round bye, then won her round of 16 match by getting an early takedown and earning a 12-2 tech fall win over #21-seed Makenna Duran of Eastern Oregon. She lost a 15-4 decision to #4-seed Olivia Mottley from Life in the quarterfinals, but rebounded with a 9-4 decision win over #32 Elizabeth Duvall from Texas Wesleyan in her first consolation match. Kaz lost by tech fall to #8 Jelia Ramos from Lindsey Wilson and #6 Alexis Schneider of Bismarck State to place eighth.
After a first round bye at 138, Gallaway who was seeded seventh, pinned #23-seed Kinnley Smith of Indiana Tech at the 1:26 mark. Facing #2-seed Zaynah McBryde from Life, she lost by tech fall in the quarterfinals, but secured a 10-0 tech fall victory over #4-seed Esther Han of Providence. Gallaway lost an 11-4 decision to #6 Macy Avila of Midland, then trailing 2-0 to #13 Skylur Lewis from Saint Mary, she got a takedown and won by a 2-2 decision, as she was the last scorer in the bout, to take seventh.
Freshman Raelynn O'Connor, seeded 24th, lost her first match at 110 by tech fall to #9-seed Kayla Shota from Providence. In her consolation match, she bounced back from an 11-4 first period deficit, outscoring Myriam Riley 10-8 in the second period, despite losing a 19-14 decision.
Senior Lisa Hoeflich was seeded 25th and got pinned in her first match at 138 against #8-seed Christina Jaen from Life, then lost a 6-3 decision to Kinnley Smith in the consolation bracket.
At 145, sophomore Emma Stice was seeded 16th and began with a first-round bye before falling to #1-seed Jordan Suarez of William Baptist. In her consolation match, Stice led 3-0 early in the second against #8-seed Brooke-Lynn Rush of Missouri Valley, but Rush rallied to defeat Stice in a 9-3 decision.
Freshman Jayla Ford, seeded #13 at 160, lost by fall to #20-seed Hailee Crosland of Baker in her first match. She lost a 4-2 decision to #14-seed Mohagany Casel from Wayland Baptist in the consolation bracket.
At 207 and seeded 29, senior Taylor Rickley lost by tech fall to #4-seed Carla Campos in her first match. Down 4-2 against #19 Kiona Michel from Eastern Oregon, Rickley was pinned at the 4:13 mark in her first consolation match.
Freshman Alexis Llamas was the 31st seed at 207 and lost by tech fall in her first match to Avila's Haley Ward, who was seeded second. She then moved to the consolation bracket, where she lost by tech fall to #16-seed Cheyenne Cruce from Lindsey Wilson.
The Broncos will now enter the offseason and prepare for the 2026-27 season.
