Women's Wrestling Competes at Dust Bowl Open

Senior Lisa Hoeflich won her first three matches of the day at 138, pinning Northern Oklahoma in her opener at the 2:19 mark. She then won a 9-0 decision over Murray State and advanced to the final with a 8-7 decision win over Chadron. In the final versus William Jewell, she lost by fall at the 1:21 mark.
At 117, freshman Jessica Farmer lost her first match, then won her first consolation match by tech fall. She earned a pin at the 1:44 mark of her next match and after a forfeit in the consolation semifinals, she was pinned at the 4:51 mark of the consolation final against Schreiner.
Freshman Jayla Ford needed only 47 seconds to pin Schreiner at 160 in her first match, then pinned Murray State just over two minutes in during her second bout. She was unable to complete her semifinal or fifth place match.
Freshman Sarah Spataro began her day with a 12-1 tech fall at 117, then needed only 1:29 to pin Northern Oklahoma. She was pinned in the semifinals against Chadron and was unable to compete in her consolation match.
At 103, freshman Miranda LaJevic picked up a pin in her first bout about three minutes in. She lost by tech fall in the semifinals to Schreiner and was pinned in the consolation semifinals by Northern Oklahoma.
Freshman Raelynn O'Connor lost her opener to William Jewell at 110, but was able to get a win by fall over Colby CC in the consolation bracket. She lost her next match on a 14-9 decision to Chadron.
At 145, freshman Carlie Nelson lost a close 8-4 decision to Northern Oklahoma to start her day, then picked up wins by fall over Colby CC and Chadron before falling in the consolation quarterfinals.
Senior Brianna Miller was pinned in her first match at 138, but picked up a win in her first consolation match before losing her next match to Fort Hays Tech. Freshman Rhees Hatch lost her first match, then responded by pinning Northern Oklahoma 40 seconds into the bout, before falling in her last match to Murray State.
Up next, the Broncos will wrestle at the Missouri Valley Open, a two-day event in Marshall, MO beginning on Friday, Nov. 21 at 10am.
