Women's Wrestling Rallies to Defeat Blue Hawks, 28-17
(Hastings, NE) – The women’s wrestling team took on Dickinson State in their first home dual of the year on Thursday evening, coming back from down 16-6 to win, 28-17.
(Hastings, NE) – The women's wrestling team defeated Dickinson State in their first home dual of the year on Thursday evening, coming back from down 16-6 to win, 28-17.
The two teams split the first two matches via forfeit, with freshman Miranda LaJevic getting credit for the win at 103 for Hastings. Tied at five, Dickinson State broke the tie with an 11-0 tech fall win at 117, then won a 10-2 decision over sophomore Ruby Guerrero at 124 to go up 12-6.
Dickinson State took the 131 bout by tech fall to take their largest lead at 16-6, but junior Reagen Gallaway needed just 50 seconds to get a 10-0 tech fall victory at 138. Sophomore Emma Stice followed her up at 145 with a pin at the 2:31 mark, cutting the deficit to one at 16-15.
Freshman Jayla Ford continued the Bronco momentum with a pin less than two minutes into the 160 bout to give Hastings the 20-16 lead with two bouts left. Sophomore Mandy Perez clinched the dual win with a 15-8 decision at 180, before senior Taylor Rickley capped off the comeback win over Dickinson State with a quick pin at 207, making the final 28-17.
