Men's Tennis Ends Fall Season at Bronco Invite

(Hastings, NE) – The Bronco men's tennis team wrapped up their fall season competing in their home invite on Friday and Saturday, featuring three other teams.
In the doubles bracket, sophomores Joel Carter and Ben Hafer took down Doane, 6-2, then lost a close 7-5 match to Nebraska Wesleyan. Senior Ethan Mins and sophomore Alex Hafer outlasted Doane, 8-7, that included a 13-11 tiebreak in their first doubles match. They later lost in the quarterfinals, 6-1, to Grand View.
Also in doubles, freshman Caden Carter teamed up with a player from Doane, dropping their first match to Grand View, 6-1. Freshmen Aden Ingwerson and Gavin Watterson lost 6-4 to Nebraska Wesleyan, but bounced back with a 7-6(6) win over Carter's team in the consolation quarterfinals. They later lost 6-4 to Doane in the consolation semifinals.
In the 'A' singles bracket, J. Carter lost his opening match, 8-5, to Nebraska Wesleyan and fell 8-5 in his consolation match versus Doane. B. Hafer lost his first match 8-2 to Grand View, then lost 8-3 in the consolation bracket to Nebraska Wesleyan.
In the 'B' singles bracket, Mins entered a tiebreak against Nebraska Wesleyan, falling 7-5. He later lost to Doane 8-2 in a consolation match. Ingwerson lost his first match 8-2 to Grand View before dropping 8-2 in the consolation bracket to Nebraska Wesleyan.
In the 'C' singles bracket, C. Carter lost his opening match to Doane, 8-3, then picked up a 8-3 win over a fellow Tiger in his first consolation match. He advanced to the consolation finals with a 8-6 win over Grand View in the consolation semifinals, then won the consolation bracket with an 8-7 victory over Doane, holding him off in tiebreak, 9-7.
A. Hafer won his first match 8-2 over Grand View, then lost 8-2 to Doane in the quarterfinals. Watterson dropped his opening match 8-4 to Doane, but pulled out a 8-3 consolation win over Grand View. He took on Doane in the consolation semifinals, falling 8-5.
Up next, the Broncos are scheduled to begin their spring season on Friday, Feb. 6 at home against Sterling.
