Baker won 6-2 at both #2 and #3 doubles to secure the doubles point and go up 1-0. Sophomores Alex Hafer and Ben Hafer came out on top of a 7-3 tiebreak win at #1 doubles, as the teams prepared for singles play.
At #1 singles, sophomore Joel Carter lost a competitive 6-4, 7-5 match. The Wildcats also won 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles and 6-2, 6-0 at #3 singles to clinch the win. Freshman Aden Ingwerson had both sets tied at five-all at #5 singles, before losing the last two games in the two sets. Baker lost just two games combined at #4 and #6 singles to wrap up the 7-0 defeat.
Up next, Hastings will open GPAC play on Tuesday, Mar. 24 with a home match against Doane at 4pm.
