Women's Soccer Picks Up Big Road Win at MACU

(Oklahoma City, OK) – The (RV) Hastings Broncos took down Mid-America Christian, who also received votes in the preseason NAIA, 3-2, with a game-winning goal from sophomore Madison Rhodes.
Hastings got the lone first half goal, coming on an unassisted goal from senior Millie Gell in the 21st minute. The Evangels outshot the Broncos 7-4 in the first half and both teams got three shots on goal, with sophomore Sabrina DeHart taking the other two shots on goal for Hastings, while sophomore goalkeeper Tatiana Villasenor saved all three opportunities.
Early in the second half, a big wave of scoring occurred in the first five minutes of the half. Three goals were scored, including two by Mid-America Christian to tie up the match at two. The Evangels scored in the 47th minute to tie the game, but it was short-lived, as sophomore Payton Tanner made a great pass to senior Jesse Chartier, who scored to give Hastings the lead back at 2-1. The Evangels tied it up at two 95 seconds later on an unassisted goal.
The score stood until the 78th minute when Rhodes received the ball from senior Megan Lampe at the top of the 18 and kicked it past the keeper to put Hastings ahead for good, 3-2. The Evangels got a shot on goal in the 88th minute, but Villasenor snagged it to preserve the win.
The Evangels outshot the Broncos in the second half as well, leading in that category 16-11 for the game. They also had eight shots on goal to Hastings' seven. Chartier, DeHart, and Rhodes each had two shots on goal, while Gell had the other with her opening score. Villasenor allowed the two goals, but got the win with her six saves.
