(Hastings, NE) – Taking on the Mount Marty Lancers in a conference battle, the Hastings women's soccer team led 1-0 going into the final minute. The Lancers capitalized on a late Bronco foul, scoring on a free kick to tie the game at one.
The Broncos scored the lone first half goal in the 26th minute on a goal by sophomore Madison Rhodes after the kick from sophomore Sabrina DeHart was tipped by the Lancer goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead.
Hastings outshot Mount Marty 9-1 in the opening half and 4-0 on shots on goal. Senior Jesse Chartier led the team with four shots in the first half, two of which were on goal. Freshman Avery Higgins also took two shots in the period.
In the second half, the Broncos continued to control the game despite not scoring a goal, outshooting the Lancers 8-3. In the 90th minute, Hastings was called for a foul just outside of the penalty box. Mount Marty was able to get a free kick on goal, just above the outstretched arms of sophomore goalkeeper Tatiana Villasenor.
Chartier finished with five shot attempts, along with four from Higgins and three from Rhodes. Rhodes, Chartier, and junior Jasmin Bislev Nielsen each had two shots on goal.
