Women's Soccer Advances to GPAC Semifinals with 2 Second Half Goals
(Hastings, NE) – The two teams played a scoreless draw in the regular season and after a scoreless first half, #3-seed Hastings put an end to that by scoring two goals in the second half to get the 2-0 win over #6-seed Dakota Wesleyan and advanced to the GPAC Semifinals.

The Broncos got a couple of early shots on goal from freshman Avery Higgins and senior Jesse Chartier. For the half Hastings took five shots, compared to just two for Dakota Wesleyan.
Chartier and Higgins led the team in the first half with two shots, with freshman goalkeeper Autumn Button recording a save.
In the second half, sophomore Sophia Lee found fellow sophomore Payton Tanner for a goal that gave Hastings a 1-0 advantage in the 51st minute. Lee added to the lead with a goal that initially bounced off the Tiger goalkeeper, scoring the unassisted goal in the 56th minute to go up 2-0.
Button recorded three saves within a three-minute span in the second half to preserve the lead, as Hastings would hold on for the 2-0 win. Higgins took a team-high six shots, with three of those being on goal, and Lee had two shots on goal. Button finished the match with four saves, as Hastings outshot Dakota Wesleyan, 16-7 overall, and 10-4 on shots on goal.
Up next, Hastings moves on to face #2-seed Concordia in Seward, NE on Saturday, November 8 at 6pm in the GPAC Semifinals. In the regular season, Concordia knocked off the Broncos, 2-1, giving them their regular season in their first conference loss in two years. The winner will host the GPAC final on Wednesday, November 12 with #1-seed Morningside falling to Mount Marty in their quarterfinal match.
