Chartier's Late Goal Lifts Broncos Past Braves

(Hastings, NE) – It took almost 80 minutes for the first score to occur, but Hastings came through with a 1-0 win, following the game-winning goal by senior Jesse Chartier.
Hastings took the only three shots in the first 35 minutes of the first half. Ottawa got their lone shot attempt on goal in the 42nd minute, but sophomore Tatiana Villasenor got the save. Sophomore Sophia Lee had a shot on goal late in the first half, but it was saved to keep it scoreless at the break.
In the second half, Hastings had a couple of other great scoring chances, with freshman Avery Higgins and junior Aubrey Yantis getting shots saved by the goalkeeper.
Hastings recorded 10 shot attempts before their first goal, then sophomore Norah Stewart found a sprinting Chartier down the middle of the field, who scored the goal to take a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute.
The Broncos took 12 shots to Ottawa's one, with Hastings leading 5-1 on shots on goal. Yantis, Lee, and sophomore Payton Tanner led Hastings with two shot attempts each, with Lee, Higgins, Yantis, and Chartier recording shots on goal. Villasenor saved the only attempt of the match for Hastings.
