(Omaha, NE) – The Hastings women's soccer team began their two-game road trip with a 1-0 loss at the College of Saint Mary, despite leading 29-8 on shots and 18-5 on shots on goal.
Neither team scored in the first half, with Hastings taking 15 shots, eight of which were on goal, to the Flames' three. Sophomore Madison Rhodes had three shots saved by the Flames' goalkeeper and another one hit off the crossbar to keep the game scoreless.
The game was held scoreless until the 76th minute when the Flames broke through with a goal to take a 1-0 lead. Hastings would get three more shot attempts the rest of the game, including two on goal, but College of Saint Mary held on for the 1-0 win.
Hastings took 14 shots in the second half to the Flames' three, as well as seven of their shots on goal, but all were saved by the College of Saint Mary goalkeeper.
Rhodes took a team-high nine shots, with seven on goal. Senior Jesse Chartier, freshman Avery Higgins, and junior Jasmin Bislev Nielsen each took three shots and combined for six shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Tatiana Villasenor allowed just the one goal, saving the other four opportunities.
