Men's Soccer Holds off Bluejay Comeback, 3-2
(Hastings, NE) – The Men’s Soccer team took on Tabor at Lloyd Wilson Field this Monday. The Broncos came out victorious with the final score being 3-2 in a physical battle that featured 10 yellow cards combined between the two teams.

(Hastings, NE) – The Men's Soccer team took on Tabor at Lloyd Wilson Field this Monday. The Broncos came out victorious with the final score being 3-2 in a physical battle that featured 10 yellow cards combined between the two teams.
In the first half the Broncos took six shots with three of those shots resulting in a point for Hastings compared to only three shots taken by the Bluejays with none of them resulting in points.
In the 13th minute of the game junior Mauro Figueroa scored the first goal for the Broncos on a free kick from about 40 yards out. In the 37th minute of the game, sophomore Tim Berger assisted senior Wade McWhorter resulting in another goal making the score 2-0. In the 44rd minute of the half senior David Hoti scored another goal with an assist by sophomore Adonis Shabani to put Hastings up 3-0 at the half.
In the second half, Hastings took eight shots unfortunately all resulting in no points. However, out of the eight shots Tabor took, two of them resulted in a goal. The game turned with about 20 minutes left, as the Bluejays started to make a late push. In the 72nd minute of the game Tabor scored their first goal of the game with another goal in the 81st minute, but the Broncos managed to hold on, 3-2.
Junior Ethan Watkins, the goalie for Hastings, had four saves throughout the game in his six opportunities. Hoti and Figueroa led the team with three shot attempts each and both had two shots on goal. Berger had two shot attempts with one on goal, in addition to his assist.
Next the Broncos host Bethel College at Lloyd Wilson Field in Hastings, NE on Wednesday, Sept. 10th at 5:30pm.
