(Hastings, NE) – Hastings College Athletic Director Chris Clements announced today that McAmos "Mike" Paye has been named as the head men's soccer coach for the Hastings Broncos.
"We are looking forward to adding Mike to Hastings College and our community. He brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our program and will be a positive presence to our student-athletes on and off the field," Athletic Director Chris Clements said. "We are looking forward to seeing how he can lead our program during this upcoming season."
Paye comes to Hastings after coaching at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA, since 2019, beginning as the associate head coach, before taking over as head coach in 2020. He built the program up from a 3-12 record in his first head coaching year to an 11-6-1 record and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament in 2024. During his time at Clarke, Paye recruited over 60 athletes from 25 countries and increased the roster from 12 to 74.
"I'm excited to start working with a new set of guys at a new school," Paye said. "Players and fans can expect us to bring back the men's soccer program to where it used to be! I remember this school being one of the best in the country and I want us to get back to that."
He began his coaching career as an assistant at Tyler Junior College in 2016, where the team won the national title with a perfect 24-0 record. He spent a couple of seasons as an assistant at Iowa Western Community College before arriving at Clarke. In addition to coaching at Clarke, Paye has also served as the head coach for Peoria City, a semi-professional team in Illinois, for the past two seasons, finishing second in the regular season both years and reaching the championship game in 2024.
As a player, Paye was named an All-American at Tyler JC, winning a national title in 2012 and finishing runner-up in 2013. He played his final two years at Creighton University, appearing in the Elite Eight in 2014 and 2015. He received his associate's degree in Psychology from Tyler JC in 2024 and his bachelor's degree in communications from Creighton in 2016.
Paye inherits a Hastings team that went 8-5-5 and 4-3-3 in conference play this past season.
