(Crete, NE) – The Hasting College Men's Soccer team traveled to Papik Field to compete against the Doane Tigers this Wednesday. The game resulted in a draw with the final score being 1-1, tying it up late on a goal from junior Jalen Jensen.
Doane scored an unassisted goal in the first half of the ninth minute of the game. Hastings took six shots compared to the Tiger's four, but Doane went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
The Broncos powered through by taking 12 shots, with Doane taking 10 in the second half. In the 81st minute of the game, Jensen scored the lone goal for Hastings to tie the game, as senior Juan Lopez-Arteaga assisted on the score.
For the game, Hastings took 18 shots to Doane's 14 and had an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal. The Broncos held the Tigers without a corner kick, while taking 11 corners themselves.
The goalie for the Broncos, junior Ethan Watkins, had a total of seven saves against the Tigers. Lopez-Arteaga led the team by taking a total of six shots, three of which were on goal. Freshman Johnny Pedroza also took two shots, both of which were on goal.
Hastings plays at home next against Dakota Wesleyan. The game will be at Lloyd Wilson Field for their Homecoming game on Saturday, Sept. 27th at 5:30 pm.
