Wise and Merryman Finish 1st at Central Nebraska Challenge

In the 100m, Kaiden Merryman won the event with a near-national qualifying time of 10.50, eight hundredths of a second from a 'B'-Standard time. Senior Sam Wise won the 5000m race walk, finishing with a time of 26:39.10, just 10 seconds off of a 'B'-Standard mark. Merryman ranks fourth in HC history, first in the GPAC, and 12th in the NAIA.
Sophomore Evan Struss finished in the top 10 of the 1500m, taking sixth at 4:07.03, while senior Deshawn Burks was 16th with a time of 4:14.38. In the 400m, Struss placed 12th at 50.30, while Burks was 21st at 51.21.
Junior Zane Eggleston took 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.83. In the 110m hurdles, sophomore Jack Scrivner finished 12th at 16.23 seconds. The 4x400m relay team made up of senior Tyler Salter, freshman Corey Fields, freshman Ben Mages, and freshman Thomas Thomas placed 14th with a time of 3:36.17.
Other competitors in the 400m included freshman August Phye, who was 25th (51.76), along with Fields in 30th (55.81) and freshman Jordael Hernandez in 33rd (57.42). In the 800m, Salter finished in 26th place at 2:00.93, while Thomas was 34th (2:04.12) and Mages was 41st (2:07.86).
Also in the 100m, junior Noah Hudnall was 29th at 11.30, senior Kellen Robertus was 34th at 11.38, freshman Cody Hrdy was 44th at 11.59, and sophomore Adrian Lobeda was 50th at 11.87. Robertus and Hudnall also took part in the 200m, finishing 29th at 23:09 and 31st at 23.10.
Also competing in the 400m, Hernandez took 33rd (4:28.95), freshman Gareth Szabo took 34th (4:29.99), and freshman Xavier Roderiques took 42nd (4:48.65).
In the field events, sophomore Cody Defeo placed sixth in the triple jump with a top leap of 12.80m. Junior Rafer Severson came in seventh in the long jump at 6.67m. Also in the long jump, Scrivner was 11th at 6.36m and Defeo was 17th at 6.24m. Severson was also 10th in the high jump at 1.86m.
Senior David Beadle finished 19th in the discus (40.39m), closely followed by freshman Thomas Mandeville in 20th (40.24m), freshman Oliver Janik in 21st (39.73m), and junior Titus Glanz in 24th (38.10m). Janik placed 24th in the hammer at 43.79m, senior Edward Holly was 27th at 41.68m, and Glanz was 29th at 38.15m.
In the shot put, Holly took 23rd (13.01), Mandeville placed 26th (12.03m), Glanz finished 32nd (10.75m), Severson was 33rd (10.65m), and Janik was 35th (9.88).
