Day 1 Recap: Men's Track and Field at GPAC Championships

Junior Kaiden Merryman won the 100m prelims, crossing the finish line with a 'B'-Standard time of 10.37 to qualify him for the finals.
In the decathlon, junior Rafer Severson is in first place through five events with 3567 points. He was second in the 100m (10.99), 400m (51.79), and high jump (1.85m). He was third in the long jump (6.52m) and the shot put (11.86m).
The men's 4x800m relay team of sophomore Parker Graves, sophomore Evan Struss, senior Deshawn Burks, and senior Tyler Salter finished second with a 'B'-Standard time of 7:40.81, just four hundredths of a second off of their school record time set last year. By placing second in the race, they earn All-Conference honors
Sophomore Jack Scrivner took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.63m to earn All-Conference honors, and sophomore Cody Defeo was 14th at 6.32m.
Senior Edward Pallotto placed 11th in the javelin with a top mark of 47.14m. In the hammer throw, senior David Beadle was 15th with a top throw of 48.28m.
In the 10000m, freshman Gareth Szabo was 22nd with a time of 36:49.09.
