At the Concordia Invite on Friday, sophomore Evan Struss won his heat of the 800m and took 10th in the competition with a time of 1:52.21, the second-best mark in school history, narrowly missing the national qualifying time by less than half a second. Also in the 800m, senior Deshawn Burks was 20th at 1:56.10, sophomore Parker Graves was 25th at 1:57.61, and senior Tyler Salter was 41st at 2:03.02.
Junior Kaiden Merryman raced to victory in the 100m prelims, ending the race with a time of 10.68 to qualify him for the finals, though he did not compete. Junior Rafer Severson also competed in the 100m prelims, finishing in 11th at 11.38.
Senior Chance Elwood took part in the high jump, placing 10th in the event at 1.84m. At the Loper Invite on Saturday, Severson was ninth in the discus at 36.08m.
Up next, Hastings will compete at the NAIA Championships in Asheville, NC on May 20-22.
