Men's Basketball Pulls Away From Waldorf in the 2nd Half, Win 91-80

Hastings took the lead early, getting two from senior DaRon Hall and after two Warrior free throws, junior Ben Boudreau hit from deep and sophomore Maverick Binder scored in close. Waldorf tied it up at seven with 16:43 to go in the first half, then Hastings countered with a 12-5 run, led by five points by senior Cameron Coraggio and four from sophomore Micah Hinrichs to go up 19-12 with 13:41 to go.
With Hastings up six, Waldorf hit back-to-back threes to tie the game at 22 midway through the half. The Warriors took a 25-23 lead on a three on their next possession. Waldorf led 29-25, then junior Owen Wright scored four quick points to tie the game. Waldorf would retake the lead and scored 12 of the next 19 points to go up 41-36 with 2:17 left. Coraggio drilled a three to cut the lead to two, but the Warriors scored the final three points of the half at the line to take a 44-39 lead.
Hastings shot 62 percent from the field in the first half and made 4-7 threes, but had eight turnovers to Waldorf's three. The Warriors shot 45 percent from the field and made 7-19 from deep, as well as scoring 11 points off of Hastings turnovers. Coraggio and Boudreau led the Broncos with eight points each at the half.
In the second half with Waldorf leading 46-40, Binder and Boudreau inched the Broncos closer with four quick points. Hastings fell behind by seven with 14:03 left, then got back in it with a 7-0 run. Freshman Riley Bombeck scored twice and Hall drilled a triple to tie it. Waldorf came right back with a three, then after a layup from senior Myles Simon, Simon forced a turnover and scored at the other end to go up 61-60 with 10:29 left.
Hastings went up five after two Binder steals turned into transition points. Baskets from Bombeck, Hall, and Binder kept the Bronco lead at 5 over the next six minutes, as they held a 72-67 lead with 4:45 to go. Leading by three with under three to go, Coraggio drilled a three-pointer. Hall stole the ball on the next defensive trip and made two free throws to take a 80-72 lead with two minutes left.
After two Waldorf free throws, Coraggio splashed in another three. The Warriors answered back with a three of their own, but Hall scored at the rim with 46 seconds left to go up 85-77. Following a Waldorf free throw, Boudreau, Hall, and Binder would ice the game at the line, winning 91-80.
Hastings shot 62 percent from the field and 53 percent from three, holding Waldorf to 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from three. Hastings had just one turnover in the second half and scored 20 points off Waldorf turnovers for the game.
Hall ended with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Binder had 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Coraggio chipped in with 14 points and four threes, while Boudreau had 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Simon came off the bench and finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
