Fourth-Ranked Concordia Defeats Broncos in Straight Sets

Concordia got the momentum early, going up 7-4. Hastings racked up four quick points that included kills from sophomore Makenna Sutter and freshman Klarissa Dowdy to take an 8-7 lead. The Bulldogs responded with 10 straight points to take a commanding lead at 17-8, eventually winning the set, 25-14.
Much like the first set, Hastings rallied from a 4-1 deficit in set two to tie it at four, following kills from Sutter and sophomore Mikah O'Neill. The Bulldogs won 12 of the next 13 points, leading to a 16-5 lead. Hastings fought back to get it within six at 22-16 with junior Madison Navarrete serving, but Concordia was able to close out the second set, 25-16.
Hastings trailed 5-1 early in the third, then grinded their way back with kills from Dowdy, Sutter, and junior Camryn Ringsdorf to trail 8-7. Concordia gained control of the set by going up seven at 18-11. The Broncos later cut the deficit to four at 21-17 with back-to-back kills by O'Neil, but in the end, Concordia won the third set, 25-18.
Sutter and Dowdy each had six kills and O'Neill added five kills of her own. Senior Alexis Pontine and freshman Fran Warson had nine assists each. Sophomore Lainey Benson had a team-high 12 digs, while Pontine also added 10 digs. Dowdy and O'Neill each had three blocks in the loss.
