Women's Track and Field Competes at Concordia Polar Dog Invite

Senior Jaida Rowe won the 400m, breaking the school record with an 'A-Standard' time of 56.18. After taking third in the 60m hurdle prelims, sophomore Lucy Carey finished third in the final at 9.17.
In the 800m, freshman Brooklyn Sutter won the event by over four seconds with a time 2:23.02. Dow was close behind in third place at 2:27.32, one tenth behind second place.
Freshmen Gianna Humphrey and Samara Humphrey qualified for the 60m finals, with G. Humphrey taking third (8.17) and S. Humphrey taking eighth (8.30). In the 200m, G. Humphrey came in fifth at 27.01. Freshman Sydney Peck placed fourth in the mile, racing through the finish line at 6:00.51, while freshman Kate Baker was fifth (6:13.53).
Senior Ava Brackhan earned fifth place in the 3000m race walk, crossing the finish line at 17:43.05, while sophomore Destini Johnson was sixth at 17:43.83 - both securing 'B-Standard' times. Freshman Paige Faimon finished seventh in the 600m at 1:51.25 and freshman Claire Noerrlinger was 10th at 2:00.63.
In the field events, Rowe took second in the long jump at 16'09.25", followed by Carey in fourth (16'08.00"), sophomore Kamerin Turner in ninth (15'11.75"), and S. Humphrey in 13th (13'09.00").
Senior Trinity Doublin finished third in the triple jump with a top mark of 34'02.00" and S. Humphrey was seventh in the event (32'03.00"). In the high jump, G. Humphrey was fourth at 4'09.50".
In the shot put, freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was 12th (38'02.25") and freshman Katelyn Strampher was 15th (36'04.25"). Schroeder was also 20th in the weight throw (37'00.50").
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Charlie Foster Classic in Kearney, NE on Friday, Jan. 30, beginning at 2pm.
