Women's T&F Takes First in 4 Events in Kearney

Senior Jaida Rowe won the 60m prelims at 8.01 and dominated the final as well, taking first with a time of 8.04 and winning by .14 seconds. Freshman Samara Humphrey also qualified for the 60m final, taking seventh (8.32).
After winning in the 60m hurdle prelims, sophomore Lucy Carey also won the final at 9.08, followed by sophomore Ava Reese in second at 9.13. Those marks moved Carey and Reese up in Hastings' all-time top 10 at eighth and ninth.
Carey also won the 400m as well, clocking in at 1:01.29 and winning by over four seconds. In the 200m, Reese took first at 27.44, closely followed by freshman Gianna Humphrey, who came in second at 27.63. Senior Kathryn Columbus also participated in the 200m, placing 10th (32.05).
In the 800m, freshman Brooklyn Sutter finished in third with a time of 2:21.41, breaking her own personal record by over a second. Dow was close behind in fourth place at 2:24.77, along with freshman Paige Faimon in eighth (2:36.61), and freshman Claire Noerrlinger in 11th (2:42.52).
Freshman Sydney Peck placed third in the mile, finishing at 6:03.14. Senior Ava Brackhan earned fourth place in the 3000m, crossing the finish line at 12:35.42, while freshman Kate Baker was sixth at 12:40.78.
In the field events, senior Trinity Doublin finished second in the triple jump with a top mark of 34'06.25", while freshman Gabryella Bates was third (32'01.00") and S. Humphrey was fourth in the event (32'00.00"). G. Humphrey took fifth in the long jump at 16'02.25", followed by S. Humphrey in ninth (15'00.00"). In the high jump, G. Humphrey was seventh at 5'00.25".
In the shot put, freshman Katelyn Strampher was eighth (38'00.75") and freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was ninth (37'04.50"). Schroeder was also 14th in the weight throw (36'05.00").
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Fred Beile Classic in Crete, NE on Saturday, Feb. 7, beginning at 10am.
