Brackhan and Rowe Collect Wins in Preparation for GPAC Meet

Senior Jaida Rowe raced to victory in the 100m hurdles with a 'B'-Standard time of 13.91. Sophomores Lucy Carey and Ava Reese were fourth and fifth in the event at 14.76 and 15.03, respectively, while senior Kathryn Columbus was 20th at 17.31. Rowe also dominated the 400m hurdles, finishing with an 'A'-Standard time of 59.36.
Senior Ava Brackhan won the 5000m race walk with a 'B'-Standard time of 29:19.42 at the Grand View Viking Classic, while senior Mikayla Seebohm was second at 37:25.93.
Sophomore Ellie Lloyd was second in the javelin with a top throw of 39.58m. The 4x100m relay team of Reese, freshman Gianna Humphrey, freshman Samara Humphrey, and Rowe placed third in the race at 47.72.
In the 1500m, freshman Brooklyn Sutter also ran a personal best of 4:46.64 to place fourth, marking the fifth best time in school history. Junior Grace Dow also set a personal best in the same race, finishing fifth at 4:54.36, while freshman Paige Faimon was 22nd at 5:41.43.
G. Humphrey placed seventh in the 100m (12.67), followed closely by Reese (12.72) and S. Humphrey (12.79). Carey took 10th in the 200m at 26.39 and Columbus was 27th at 30.90.
Other results in field events included senior Trinity Doublin, who was ninth in the triple jump at 10.55m. S. Humphrey took 15th in the long jump at 4.54m, while G. Humphrey was 20th at 3.74m. Freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was 13th in the shot put at 11.70m and 29th in the hammer at 35.79m.
Up next, Hastings will compete at the GPAC Championships in Fremont, NE on May 1-2, starting at 12pm on Friday.
