Women's Track and Field Captures 6 Event Wins at Home Invite

Senior Jaida Rowe broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles, finishing the race at an 'A'-Standard time of 13.81 and taking second in the event. Sophomore Lucy Carey was right behind in third at 14.95. Rowe later took second in the 400m hurdles at 1:09.35.
Sophomore Ellie Lloyd won the javelin with a 'B'-Standard top throw of 41.27m, marking the second best mark in school history. Senior Trinity Doublin was runner-up in the triple jump at 10.45m, while freshman Samara Humphrey was fourth (9.88m) and freshman Gabryella Bates was seventh (9.71m).
In the 5000m race walk, sophomore Destini Johnson took first, setting a personal record and improving upon her second best time in school history, winning the event with a 'B'-Standard time of 29:40.66. Senior Ava Brackhan was less than a second from breaking her personal record that ranks fourth in school history, finishing second in the race walk at 30:50.69.
Freshman Brooklyn Sutter raced to a first place victory in the 1500m with a time of 4:54.57, while junior Grace Dow finished close behind her in third at 5:04.17. In the 4x100m relay, the Broncos won with a time of 53:38, as sophomore Ava Reese, S. Humphrey, freshman Gianna Humphrey, and Rowe teamed up for the event.
In the 4x400m relay, the Broncos won with a time of 4:06.69, as Rowe, S. Humphrey, G. Humphrey, and Carey teamed up for the event.
Freshman Paige Faimon came in eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:35.33. Sophomore Ava Reese and Bates took part in the 100m, finishing at 14th (13.07) and 16th (13.44). In the 100m hurdles, Reese was sixth (16.16) and senior Kathryn Columbus took 11th (18.41).
Other results in the field events included Carey, who was fifth in the high jump with a top leap of 1.57m and G. Humphrey, who was eighth at 1.42m. Freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was seventh in the shot put at 11.27m and 13th at 33.23m in the hammer. Lloyd placed ninth in discus at 38.95m and sophomore Kamerin Turner was 11th in the javelin at 22.21m.
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Invite on Apr. 17-18, beginning at 12pm on Friday.
