Johnson and Rowe Win Races at Central Nebraska Challenge

Senior Jaida Rowe improved upon her record-breaking performance in the 400m hurdles, winning the race with an 'A'-Standard time of 58.44, three hundredths of a second better than her time last week. The two races by Rowe top all other NAIA competitors in the 400m hurdles by almost a full second.
In the 5000m race walk, sophomore Destini Johnson set a personal record and fourth fastest time in school history, winning the event in 31:04.98. Senior Ava Brackhan was second in the event at 31:07.01.
Freshman Brooklyn Sutter earned a top 10 finish in the 1500m, placing seventh at 4:56.92. Junior Grace Dow competed in the 800m, placing eighth with a time of 2:24.28 and freshman Paige Faimon came in 21st at 2:38.54.
In the 400m, freshman Gianna Humphrey was 12th (59.84), freshman Samara Humphrey was 20th (1:02.30) Sutter was 24th (1:03.16). In the 100m, freshman Gabryella Bates took 45th at 13.89.
In the field events, senior Trinity Doublin placed 12th in the triple jump with a top leap of 10.26m, while Bates was 16th (9.70m) and S. Humphrey was 18th (9.53m). G. Humphrey finished 23rd in the high jump with a top mark of 1.42m and S. Humphrey took 29th in the long jump at 3.64m.
In the discus, freshman Katelyn Strampher was 22nd at 38.09m. Strampher was also 34th in the hammer (38.83) and freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was 43rd (30.59). In the shot put, Schroeder was 22nd (10.94m) and Strampher was 26th (10.54m).
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Concordia Outdoor Invite in Seward, NE on Apr. 2-3, beginning at 2pm on Thursday.
