Carey Wins Heptathlon at Jim Dutcher Invite

In the heptathlon, sophomore Lucy Carey won the competition with 4476 points, which ranks ninth in the NAIA and first in the GPAC. She set a new personal record in the competition, moving up to fifth place in school history. Carey won the 100m hurdles (15.20) and long jump (5.15m), and took second in the high jump (1.58m), javelin (31.29), and 800m (2:32.11). She also was third in the 200m (26.95) and sixth in the shot put (9.00m).
Sophomore Ellie Lloyd won the javelin with a top throw of 39.31m, while sophomore Kamerin Turner was 20th in the event (22.82m). Senior Jaida Rowe ran another 'A'-Standard time of 59.08 in the 400m hurdles, taking second in the race.
In the 800m, junior Grace Dow set a personal best and moved into fifth in the school record books, finishing second at 2:18.14. Freshman Brooklyn Sutter also ran a personal best of 2:19.61 to place fourth in the 800m, marking the seventh best time in school history.
Sophomore Ava Reese took fourth in the 100m hurdle prelims, finishing the race in 14.84 and Carey was fifth in the event at 14.86 to advance to the final. Reese was the lone Bronco that competed in the final, placing fifth with a time of 15.00.
Freshman Gianna Humphrey and sophomore Ava Reese qualified for the finals in the 100m, taking sixth and eighth in the prelims at 12.53 and 12.70. In the 100m final, G. Humphrey was seventh (12.58) and Reese was eighth (12.83).
Senior Ava Brackhan was 10th in the 10000m with a time of 45:02.95. Freshman Paige Faimon ended up in 11th in the 1500m with a time of 5:57.85.
Other results in field events included senior Trinity Doublin, who was eighth in the triple jump at 10.80m, and G. Humphrey, who was 12th in the long jump at 4.58m. Freshman Mattilynn Schroeder was 13th in the shot put at 11.53m and 23rd in the hammer at 31.79m.
