Rowe Breaks School Record in 400m Hurdles

Senior Jaida Rowe had a couple of great performances, finishing with the best time of all NAIA competitors in the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles. She was third overall in the 400m hurdles and set a school record with an 'A'-Standard time of 58.47 seconds, the first Bronco to ever run the race in under one minute. She currently ranks first in the NAIA in the 400m hurdles.
Rowe also had the best NAIA mark in the 100m hurdles, taking fourth overall in the 100m hurdles at 14.23, just .04 seconds off of the 'B'-Standard mark. The race also broke Rowe's personal record and moved her into fourth in school history and currently ranks four in the NAIA this year.
In the 100m, freshman Gianna Humphrey was 21st (13.03), freshman Samara Humphrey was 23rd (13.27), sophomore Kamerin Turner was 24th (13.61) and freshman Gabryella Bates was 25th (14.00).
Also in the 100m hurdles, senior Kathryn Columbus was 23rd at 18.91. Sophomore Lucy Carey also competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing 16th at 1:04.72. Junior Grace Dow competed in the 1500m, placing 32nd with a time of 5:10.38.
In the field events, G. Humphrey took ninth in the long jump at 4.62m, followed by Turner in 11th at 4.58m. S. Humphrey finished fifth in the triple jump with a top mark of 9.49m and Bates was sixth in the event at 9.39m.
In the discus, freshman Katelyn Strampher was seventh at 41.52m, followed by sophomore Ellie Lloyd in 18th (32.46m) and freshman Mattilynn Schroeder in 19th (28.35m). Competing in the javelin, Lloyd was 10th (34.73m) and Turner was 15th (24.73m). In the shot put, Schroeder was 13th (11.34m) and Strampher was 14th (10.83m).
Up next, Hastings will compete at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, NE on Saturday, Mar. 28, beginning at 11am.
