Rowe Becomes NAIA All-American in 400m

(Gainesville, FL) – Members of the women's track and field team competed at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the three-day event, beginning on Thursday.
In the 400m prelims, senior Jaida Rowe improved upon her school record by racing the finish line in 55.48 seconds, taking second in her heat and seventh overall to move on to the finals and earn NAIA All-American status. Rowe ran a time of 56.56 in the finals to take eighth.
Senior Ava Brackhan finished 10th in the 3000m racewalk prelims, just outside of the finals, at 16:46.86. Her time was almost a minute faster than her previous record, moving her into third on the school's all-time list. Sophomore Destini Johnson was 14th in the event at 18:00.05.
In the pentathlon, sophomore Lucy Carey placed 12th overall with 3279 points. Her best performance came in the 800m, finishing sixth at 2:30.35. She was 10th in the 60m hurdles (9.17), 11th in the high jump (1.50m), 12th in the shot put (9.64m), and 13th in the long jump (5.11m).
Hastings will now turn their attention to the outdoor season, beginning with a meet at the Utah Tech Invitational on Mar. 20-21.
