Day 2 Recap: Brackhan Becomes All-American; Rowe Advances to 2nd Final

In the 5000m race walk final, senior Ava Brackhan placed eighth to become an All-American with a personal time of 27:48.83, marking the second-best time in school history. Also in the 5000m race walk final, sophomore teammate Destini Johnson was 11th at 29:52.69, while senior Mikayla Seebohm placed 15th at 31:13.14.
Senior Jaida Rowe was second in her 100m hurdles heat at 13.78, placing fifth overall to advance to the 100m hurdle finals tomorrow at approximately 3:30pm, in addition to her 400m hurdle finals race at 4:15pm.
In the heptathlon, sophomore Lucy Carey entered the day in 14th, then ended up in 12th place in the overall standings with a personal-best point total of 4503, ranking fifth In school history. She was seventh in the 800m (2:27.15), 10th in the high jump (5.17m), and 13th in javelin (27.15m) in the events on Thursday.
Hastings will wrap up their season at NAIA Championships tomorrow, as Rowe will compete in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, and sophomore Ellie Lloyd will compete in the javelin throw final at 2pm.
